New farm contract (Project Management)
This would entail AgriSelect being involved from the very beginning, helping the investor to choose the right growing facility for their needs, to maximise inputs and labour from the outset. Labour costs and particularly picking costs, have increased exponentially over the past few years and this trend will only continue. Any growing operation now being constructed or proposed for the future, should take this into consideration.
There are new systems available that can reduce picking cost based on existing systems by 30% or more. New growing systems also need to be robot-friendly to take advantage of developments in this field in the future. AgriSelect would be involved at all levels to help choose the correct construction site, facility design, growing-climate control hardware and software, watering systems, suppliers and contractors etc.
It would be Our Goal to ensure that the investor achieves best price on equipment to reduce overhead costs into the future.
Full general management and training contract
A general management contract is targeted at those investors who have already built their growing facility (farm) and are now looking for qualified management to come on-farm and run the operation at a high standard as well as train a management team to take over within an agreed time period.
This team would consist of an AgriSelect member on-farm, or on call 24/7 and would take the form of two of the AgriSelect personal rotated, approximately every three weeks. This rotation is a prerequisite due to the nature of mushroom production, where growing and picking must be managed at a high level daily. This system will ultimately be structured to give the consistency necessary for the smooth running of the farm as well as training of the future farm management team. For the duration of this contract, the AgriSelect general manager would be responsible for all aspects pertaining to the farm's day-to-day management needs.
It is important to understand that initially the AgriSelect team can oversee all farm operations, but that from the outset, personnel are identified and placed by the client in supervisory roles accordingly. This will be the foundation of training going forward and ultimately the new management team.
As English is the core language spoken by the AgriSelect team, it would be required that English is spoken by these key staff in training.
Consultancy only within existing operations
In this instance, AgriSelect would give consultancy in a supporting role; coming on site for an agreed number of days, spread over an agreed period to maximise efficiencies in the procurement of inputs, placing, filling, growing, harvesting, packing and marketing, where required.
AgriSelect can also consult on older production units where extensive refurbishment is required, to help the producer find the best and most efficient systems and construction upgrades.
It needs to be clear however, in this instance, that AgriSelect would not be coming into manage the operation or place and train new staff, unless agreed in the contract.This contract would be solely consultancy to streamline and improve the existing operation where possible.
